In Zen Cart, a banner is an advertising graphic (or HTML code) that is used to draw attention. It is useful for affiliate links, advertising, cross-selling, and highlighting featured items in ways that graphics work better than sideboxes. A "banner" should not be confused with a "header image" which shows at the top of your page with your logo on it, etc.
